This year’s festival will be held under the motto AWARENESS to emphasise how important awareness is in design and how many connotations and meanings it has in relation to design. Awareness in design obliges us to ask what the role of design and the designer is.

This year’s main programme for AWARENESS includes three exhibitions: ‘The Future is Stupid‘, prepared by Sven Ehmann; ‘Ways of Seeing‘ by Maria Jeglińska; and ‘Who Are You?‘ by Agnieszka Jacobson-Cielecka and Klara Czerniewska.

TIMETABLE

Forum: Design & Architecture, or a new approach to lecturing. Our intention is to create an even larger space for the audience to have the opportunity not only to listen to design professionals such as designers, producers and curators, many of whom enjoy international recognition and the number is growing each year, but also to hear the answers to the pervading questions, to have discussions with the experts and to exchange experiences.

Educreation. Children’s meeting with design provides room for educational play for the youngest group of the Łódź Design Festival target audience. It is for the second time that we have come up with a suggestion of a program for children and their parents, being convinced that it is worthwhile showing good projects to children and taking them along to workshops and festivals, thus shaping their aesthetics since their childhood.

The Remade Market was created for lovers of design. It’s a place where you can meet designers, to talk about inspirations and current trends, and purchase original and unique items directly from their creators.

The programme of film screenings taking place as part of the 6th International Design Festival in Łódź.

The workshops offer you the opportunity to pursue creative and conceptual work as well as to become acquainted with and to practice various project development techniques. The workshops are conducted by practising designers and can become an enriching experience for both beginners and professional artists. Participation in the workshops is open to a limited number of attendees.

This year sees the fifth anniversary of make me!, a contest for young designers. On this occasion, the post-contest exhibition will include both designs distinguished in this year’s edition, and the five most interesting offers from each of the contest’s last five editions.

The Portfolio Review is a series of individual meetings and consultations offered to beginners by experienced artists, curators, design critics, editors and manufacturers.

For anyone who is interested not only in watching design exhibitions but also in reading about design and finding out more about the theory of design, we are opening a ELLE DECORATION READING ROOM that will remain open throughout the entire Festival in the Festival Centre (Ground Floor, 35 Targowa Street).

PechaKucha comes from the Japanese work for „chat”. It is a non-standard form of presentation. The rule is simple: 20×20 i.e. 20 slides, each displayed for 20 seconds. Anyone who has something interesting to show or say can present their topic. The idea and will to share it with others is what is most important in this project. 27.10, 8.00pm, club DOM (OFF Piotrkowska, Piotrkowska 138/140).
